Get to know Dr. Ringle

Ellen Ringle

When did you know you wanted to be a Doctor of Optometry?

Growing up I dealt with a condition called amblyopia. Luckily, it was caught early, and I didn’t struggle in school very much – but I did have frequent visits to the eye doctor as a kid. She inspired me to be an eye doctor!

Where did you earn your Doctorate?

I attended school at Pacific University college of Optometry in Oregon. I also got my Master’s Degree in Vision Science there. Vision science is a huge help in this field, as it allows me to stay informed about the ever-changing field of optometry.
I love hiking and being outdoors, so being in the pacific northwest was a dream!

What do you like most about being the profession?

I love providing for young patients. I know the struggle of having glasses in school, and being able to help them is very rewarding!

What are you most excited about practicing at Metro Eye?

I am excited to learn about all the state-of-the-art treatment options that are available at Metro Eye. That will allow me to expand the care I am able to provide for patients. I am thrilled to be serving patients alongside the rest of the friendly staff here as well!

What are your hobbies?

I love staying active through playing tennis, cycling, hiking and being near Lake Michigan! I am really loving being closer to friends and family and spending time with them.
