UPDATE – ATC Construction Alert
Chicago St., between Jefferson and Water Sts.
Buffalo St., between Jefferson and Water Sts.
Below is the latest on the American Transmission Co.’s transmission line project. PLEASE read these communications thoroughly as we are doing our best to communicate the latest traffic restrictions, parking issues, and access restrictions to you in a timely manner. The HTWA staff is meeting weekly with the construction crews as the project is in a very critical path right now.
ALL efforts are being made by the crews to avoid working between the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday period (with the exception of the 400 and 600 block of E. Chicago St.).
E. CHICAGO ST. (400 and 600 blocks)
These two blocks are open for now but will be closed in the westbound lane soon for the HDD excavation in the 400 block and stringing of 8′ steel pipe in the 600 block. Eastbound traffic will be allowed while work is ongoing in these areas.
E. BUFFALO ST. (200 and 400 blocks)
The 200 block will continue to be restricted until this Saturday (Nov. 16) as restoration is completed. Today’s closure of the Broadway intersection for southbound traffic is for one day only and helped expedite the completion of the restoration. This has taken longer than anticipated and the recent weather pattern did not help. The project team appreciates everyone’s patience.
The 400 block will continue its traffic and parking restrictions as the final restoration for the new manhole is completed. The project will be out of this block (finally!) by the Thanksgiving holiday.
N. JEFFERSON ST. (Buffalo to St. Paul)
The work in and around the substation on Jefferson St. is coming to a close and road repairs on this block are expected to be completed very soon. Weather again has impacted wrapping up this section of Jefferson. Traffic will be back open in both directions soon.
BROADWAY (300 block)
There is a We Energies project (unrelated to the ATC work above) working to run a new power conduit to an ATT small cell pole just south of Cafe Benelux. This work will be completed by end of day Friday November 15.
