UPDATE – ATC Construction Alert

This is an update to the alert sent earlier this week.
BUFFALO ST.
The HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) has finally begun in the 400 and 200 blocks of Buffalo St. That work is now expected to be completed by or during the week of October 27th.
Traffic is restricted to westbound only on the 200 and 400 blocks of Buffalo. No street parking is allowed during this phase of work. Sidewalks will be open in all areas and unimpeded by the construction. Broadway, Water St., and Milwaukee St remain open for traffic and parking.
Traffic and parking is not be restricted on the 300 block of Buffalo for this phase of work.
CHICAGO ST.
Starting next week (October 14), the crews will be “potholing” in two locations; one on the 200 block and one on the 400 block of E. Chicago (not in the 300 block). Potholing is a construction method that includes vacuum excavation for the purpose of obtaining visual confirmation of utilities and underground obstructions near or crossing the planned bore path for the transmission line.
Traffic will be restricted and the north traffic and parking lanes will be the work zone. Traffic will be restricted to one-way eastbound while the potholing crews are working. THIS WORK IS ONLY EXPECTED TO LAST 2-3 DAYS and then normal traffic patterns and parking will return.
All alley and garage entrances will be maintained during this segment of work.
There will be additional potholing done in the intersections of Broadway and Milwaukee St. along Chicago but they will be brief and only a few hours at a time.
Short term parking for your customers and clients is available in our two public parking ramps at Chicago/Water and Chicago/Milwaukee. Rate is $5 for up to 2 hours.
We will continue to monitor and update you on progress of the project. The HTWA staff is meeting with the ATC contractors weekly for the duration of the project to keep abreast of the latest updates.
