Alert! Avulux Receives FDA Authorization for Migraine-Associated Light Sensitivity
If you experience migraines, you may remember that we introduced you to Avulux lenses during Migraine & Headache Awareness Month. Now, there’s some more exciting news to share.
Very recently, Avulux has received FDA De Novo marketing authorization, establishing a new FDA-recognized classification for precision optical filters designed to decrease the impact of light sensitivity associated with episodic migraine.
So, what does that mean?
Avulux uses specialized light-filtering technology designed to selectively filter specific wavelengths of light- including 480 nm in the high-blue range and 590 nm in the red/amber range- while allowing the rest of the visible spectrum through. The FDA-authorized indication applies to people 12 and older who have been diagnosed with episodic migraine.
For someone who finds bright sunlight, fluorescent lighting, computer screens, or other light sources difficult during a migraine, managing light exposure can be an important part of their overall migraine toolkit.
