Prevent Blindness as a national organization started over 100 years ago in 1908. When it was learned that most childhood vision problems were preventable and treatable, a band of volunteers got together to form the forerunner to Prevent Blindness. To this day, Prevent Blindness is an organization that advocates for both children and adults in maintaining visual health.
The Wisconsin chapter of Prevent Blindness was founded in 1958. Their team of 9 and thousands of volunteers provide free sight-saving services throughout Wisconsin each year. These services include vision screenings, eye condition screenings and various other public health educational events.
Each year, the Wisconsin chapter fundraises money to support these activities to help save the sight of many Wisconsinites. This year, the “Eye Walk for Sight” is being held on September 11th, 2022 at the Milwaukee Zoo.
Metro Eye is proud to be sponsoring the event and to have a team of walkers supporting the cause. To learn more about Prevent Blindness Wisconsin, Eye Walk for Sight, Metro Eye’s team and how to donate, please visit https://eyewalkforsight.rallyup.com/pbw
