Summer is right around the corner and that means you can expect to see sun, sun and more sun! And with all of this glorious sunshine in your life, you will also being seeing a lot more of my personal favorite fashion accessory, sunglasses. And, with frequent trips to the beach, long bike rides, and backyard BBQ’s, your shades quickly go from a fashionable accessory to a must have necessity.
The moment you put on your shades, you instantly become cool, stylish and more comfortable in the bright summer light. The only problem – when the shades come off.
Unless you follow in the footsteps of today’s hit rappers and literally wear your sunglasses at night, you are going to remove your sunglasses only to find the dreaded raccoon eyes. Those distinct tan lines that fail to replicate the fashionable shades that created them and instead force us to resemble a less than cuddly creature.
We can’t survive summer without them (nor would we want to) so below are a few helpful hints that allow you to show off every fabulous pair of shades you own, without fear of tan lines.
- Wear your smaller shades during the hours of 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. This is when the sun’s rays are most powerful and tanning is more likely to occur. Save your larger, oversized glasses for later on in the evening when you are less likely to get tan lines.Â
- Â When you know you will be stationary for a few hours, give your shades a temporary rest and switch to wearing a hat. A big floppy hat is perfect when you just wanna soak up some rays, and a baseball cap is less likely to break during a spontaneous game of beach volleyball.Â
- You always remember to lather your arms and legs in sunscreen, but too often neglect your face. Make sure to apply a face-friendly sunscreen before leaving the house, and remember to reapply every few hours.Â
So don’t hesitate to rock every pair of shades you own, just try out these tips and leave the raccoon eyes to the raccoons.
